When my discovery starts you can hear what I assume to be the Turbo whistleing, (1994 es 300tdi ). As you (slowly) accelerate so does the whistle. Then when you check under the bonnet guess what? Oil... sprayed everywhere. It seems to have flooded the pipes to the intercooler covered the entire near side of the engine bay forward of the turbo and soaked the alternator.

It has, according to the previous owner but one, had a new turbo at 120000 miles just 5400 miles ago.

Any ideas or should I just leave it parked up with the keys in it and go on holiday and pray it isnt still there when i get back?

hi m8 sounds to me that one of your intercooler pipes has come loose or the jubilee clip has come away

check all the pipework that comes from the intercooler top and bottom i bet its bottom towards the turbo the oil is what comes back through the emissions control from the black looking item that is bolted on side of engine the pipe goes to the air intake lower pipe work this oil is basically bad breath from engine and does no harm if you disconect from the air box area and feed pipe to chassis somewhere will do it good it will only drip a little
this is the oil that is being sprayed from a burst pipe from intercooler and the noise you hear is air being drawn throgh that hole/gap
have a realy good check new pipe if needed but dont overtighten regards colin

Just drove my mates Discovery which is a year newer than mine, in comparison mine feels like an old 1960's vintage bedford lorry. It has no acceleration, the pedal feels like it has a 40lb spring pushing it up and it feels like it is running on solid rubber wheels.....

His feels light responsive and well sprung.. you dont feel every stone in the road .. hmmmm I think if mine were a horse Id shoot it !!!
