Where Can I Go Brecon Beacons?

Is there still green lanes near brecon where I can take my landy, or are they all bridleways now. Looking at the Landranger 160 & 161 map, I cant hardly see any traffic by-ways. There is some routes Me and friends would like to tackle that we have seen on the offroadroutes website. But we are unsure if we can use them now. We dont want to drive for 4 hours only to find we cant do any off roading.

im pretty sure most of the brecon routes are open. the gap pass south of brecon is still open aswell as most of the sarn helen route further toward the south. not sure whats happening north of brecon. strata florida is also still open if your up for it

Thanks for your help, I have heard and read about the routes you have mentioned, but what is the Gap Pass?

the gap is south of Brecon. east/northeast of pen-y-fan. it basically traverses the mountainsides and passes between them. i think it incorporates part of the old disused railway?

anyway, hook up with some locals or local(ish) clubs and they will show you some of the better routes.

there's a old roman road that passes through them that is a RUPP, near Pen-y-fan
