Where are the sunshine roof drains?

Assuming its a classic then they run down the A pillars on to the top of the inner wings.
You should be able to see the bottom of the tubes with the bonnet up.
Sounds like yours might have come out?
Does it leak at all?

You're fairly close so if you want to come and have a look drop me a line.

Sorry, I didn't say it's a P38. I think they run down the A pillars then come out in front of the doors, but come out where ? I ask because I have mud flaps that sre screwed in on top of the innerer arches and the screws are all corroded so I dont want to have to cut them off. I thought the pipes exit there. But removing the plastic bungs allowed me to bend them sufficiently to find the pipe were not where I expected them
dkl1971 - If you can help sometime that would be great I will provide tea & biscuits of course :) it would be good to compare note with someone.
I have been trying to fix a misfire problem for 3 months now and it looks like - yes the downpipes are blocked
I have spent anbout £500 replacing fuel pump, fuse box, crankshaft sensor, ECU checked etc etc, and it has been to two garages, one a P38 speciailist, they both gave up as the fault was intermittent.
After pulling out all the dash thinking there was now another serious problem (wet carpet passenger side), I have discovered that water (clear) has been seeping onto the elctrics - including the plug that the Testbook connects to, and all were dripping wet. Heater matrix & O rings are all OK so it must be the downpipes. Currently all dried out and car runs perfectly.

Front one runs down drivers A frame, rear one runs down back of rear N/S passenger door frame into rear wheel arch. Nothing from sunroof runs down anywhere near OBDII plug. Check the seal on the N/S pollen filter.

Nisbeam,
I don't know anything about P38s (I don't know very much about classics!) but always happy for a natter.
Just outside Calne.

As Wammers says pollen filters do seem to be a common cause of leaks - I think mine has them so I suppose I ought to check!

Thanks folks. Wammers, If I open the sunshire roof and look for pipes, I can see a drain pipe both front left and right. Do you mean the one on the left goes to the back as well as the one on the right? I assumed there were four drain pipes in total, I must be wrong.

OK it seems as though the pollen filter may be the culprit. It is a while ago that I changed it when I did a service. This may tie in with the approximate start of my misfire problems. There was in fact no filter there. So perhaps although the seal looks OK it may be the cause of a leak - in fact if the channel also gets clogged with leaves (which it may where I live) this may contribute to the problem.

The investigation continues .... :pop2:

According to RAVE one goes from R/H side front, down drivers A pillar and exits through body to top of inner mud shield. Other goes from rear N/S corner down rear passenger door back pillar and out through body just behind seat catch and again drains inside mud shield. Unless you have an aftermarket sunroof. But i hardly think you will have. You did say this was aP38 did you not?

I've never been able to find my sunroof drains either.

I did happen across tone of he rubber things that goes on the end of one of them when it fell out of my front wing, but I couldn't see any sign of the pipe it was supposed to fit onto.

Presumably the drain pipes themselves sit inside the pillars and can therefore become lost inside them? Seems a bit improbable that all four of mine would have done that though...

Yes mine is a P38. If you look inside the sunroof opening there is a hole which looks like the top of a pipe on each side !
Still the pollen filter makes more sense I could not quite understand how a pipe that presumably goes to the wheel arch could let water into the passenger footwell - unless it was full to the top & water had come from the roof all the way down.
