When is enough enough??

Ideally I'd love to whack a new chassis on, but funds wont allow.
Every other year I need to do some chassis welding, a few years ago redid the whole back chassis from the rear wheels backwards.
2 years later needed repair further forward, round the trailing arm mounts.
Now I've got bit needing attention at the bottom of the curve of the chassis, and behind the gearbox Xmember (removed to get gearbox out, otherwise would have never been found0
Ok, and a bulkhead outrigger need replacing.

Just seems year on year I'm chasing tinworm

To make matters worse, shes been sat since October when the gearbox decided it didn't want a layshaft,
Gonna take a bit of work to get her back on the road

Remember feeling like this last time when I did the rear end, till I could get back in the drivers seat...

Assuming your question is rhetorical, maybe book a priest - dismantle and put the decent bit in sales and wants?

Well to be fair to justify it is pretty easy, as buying a defender on the whole is illogical, the price for a tin box with a steering wheel is frankly hilarious, so you've already gone past reason buying it, so go throw a chassis under it..

When spending to fix yer biscuit tins yer need to think about what yer get out of what yer put in. Realistically a new chassis will develop into doing some eggstra stuff anorl. But it will give yer another X number of years motoring with it. Look after the replacement chassis with rust protection inside and out. My advice would be ter flog it and buy a freelander. The only sensible solution.

After the initial batch of welding, did you treat/wax the chassis?
