I'm new to this forum. I've read alot of the advice given. I'm hoping someone can help me. I hope I haven't missed this if someone has asked this before.
I have an R reg 1.8 XEi. I have just started to get a wheel wobble. This started at 50-60 MPH. I have had the wheels balanced. The garage has said they cannot find anything wrong at all. The IRD bracket is OK. It seems to be getting worse.
HELP please. If anyone has any advice plase let me know
Thanks

Welcome drummerboy. Did the garage check all the steering linkages? Rack end and wheel end. Brake disks can sometimes cause wheel wobble I think.

Thanks Marksurrey.

According to the garage they have checked everything. Not convinced. Looking at the forum, and other questions the wobble is more of a vibrtion that gets worse the fater you go (drive slower is not an option). I just dont know what to do. I think i'll prob get the car out and do it myself!!!!!!!!!
:(

So many things to check, don't envy you at all. Ball joints, bearings, bushes, lovely job! Good luck !

Mine has jus started on this last week and got worse over a few days, have to take it back to dealer next week and see what they say, goes really bad when going into long right hand bends........................keep you all informed

Had this a dozen times... it's always been the wheel balancing, especially at speeds like that, even when I've just had them allegedly balanced.

Get another place to check the balancing before you spend money getting anything else checked.

Also, check your wheel nuts are all tight and that the wheels are on flat to the hub... I once got a bit of plastic stuck under my wheel and didn't notice - made the wheel go on slightly wonky and caused wheeel wobble above 40mph.

Thanks for the replies. I cant work out whats wrong. I have had wheels balanced twice. Switched all wheels around. That make no difference. I'm putting her into a landrover independant on Tuesday (can't wait for the bill). Will keep you all posted.

Just one tip that I was given a long time ago...

Do not tell them what you've had checked already, so they double check everything that's already been checked.

That way you're getting a completely fresh set of eyes on the job.

Good luck.
