how much does this obscure visibility?,my wheels bolted top the back door, but this has made it heavy, and i am sick of it swinging into when i get kit out of the 110,cant stretch to a swing away at the moment but my fender being a service van that could get in the way too, wheels are 235 85 16

Also the strain of the spare wheel on the door creates stress fractures on the door and pulls the door out of alignment,

My spare smashed the glass last week, serves me right for taking it out of the back to fit people in it place lol

I also have a 7.50x16 on my bonnet and I don't find it obstructive at all. I'm average heightif it makes a difference.

How tall are you?

I had a 7.50x16 on my 2 1/4 denzil and it didn't make much difference.

I'm 6'2

Yeah, I was going to say that. I'm the same height and I don't find that mine makes much difference. It reduces what you can see directly in front of you for parking and such like, but you soon get used to it. Mine looks naked without a wheel on the lid!

The main difference is the workout you get everyime you open the bonnet.

am 4 inches shorter than you already feel like my heads hitting the top of the visor ,put the spare tyre on only issue i can see is parking normal visibilitys fine,is it legal on a fender though mines a 96

It looks better and you'll soon get used to not seeing the first two euro-boxes in front of you... :D

Test's done some years ago[ by a 4x4 mag I think] showed that a series 3 petrol had it's top speed increased by 3 mph with the wheel on the bonnet due to better aerodynamics.

I tried a 205 on the bonnet of my Ninety, it didn't actually obscure the road much (I'm 5'11") but just seemed in the way all the time. You have to take it off to open the bonnet right back to the screen too - it ended up behind the seat bulkhead.

I've just swapped a 110 for a 90. The latter had the spare on the bonnet and it never caused me a problem. Now I've swapped to a rear mounted spare I never noticed any difference. For me, on the bonnet is fine.

Got mine, 7.5x16, on the bonnet and I'm 5ft 8. Never had a problem with visibility and much prefer having it on there. Only very rarely do I have to stand up and look over it but that's just if I'm in a very tight space and want to double check my spacing
