Could someone please tell me why my wheel nuts keep coming undone i have used the right torque settings but it keeps happening.

and if yer dunt know if yer wheel are steel or not, have a look at the stud holes. if the holes are tapered them is steel wheels, if the holes have a flat surround them is alloy.. or post a pic of yer wheels and one of yer nuts.. wheel nuts that is

Hi,
On a slightly different thread (like what i did there). Does anyone out there no where i can purchase an aftermarket set of wheel nuts that are suitable for a set of steel modular wheels. The set came off of a Landy but the standard whhel nuts are not suitable as they are too big (too deep) and there is insufficient thread. I need slightly shallower ones?

It's also worth remembering to nip your wheels up off the ground (espacially alloys) to seat them to the hub before dropping the wheel back to the ground and fully tightening them ;)

If you dont do this properly it can result in loosening wheel nuts

a thing i used to get on my series 2a was the near side wheel nuts would work loose had to crack them up ever week or so .
(had a nearside rear overtake me once :D luckily nobody was coming around the corner just up the road as it would have been very nasty)

It's not your nuts that are wrong you need longer studs I think.

That's why twin-wheel vans (eg transits) have left hand threads on the nearside. They self-tighten. Seriously bent a few wheelbraces till I worked that out.

When I bought my Series 3 the wheelnuts had been painted on. No chance of them coming loose - took us 45 minutes with a jack and a lorry brace to get them loose.:)
