wheel nut covers

If you do happen to damage the nut cover/s, they are quite cheap to replace via fleebay....
My RR came with a leatherette covered tube thingy which fits over the nut covers and removes them easily; the locking nut key was inside the soft case with it.

Sounds crazy, but I had the same problem when I first got my car.

I never noticed that 1 of the covers was slightly different to the rest and assumed they all came off.

I got my black cover remover and pushed it over a nut, it got stuck and I had to break it to get it out.

I thought, dam these are tight, lol.

The penny did drop after a few mins.

As said before, just slip the socket over the locking cover and it will easily spin off.

The locking nut cover is the only one with a dimple in it, all the others do not come off. learned this the hard way while breaking all the little lugs off the plastic remover :p

Slightly off subject, but does anybody know if there are any other nuts that can be used instead of these crazy alloy coated things, maybe something like they have on the Defenders?

I've had nothing but hassle with the ones on my P38. They're all well mangled now too due to the locals over here having to "hammer" on the brace or socket (27mm) and then hammer the hell out of them to get them out of the socket when ever they have had to remove the wheels. I know I could buy a complete set from the UK, but the next time I need to remove a wheel the same old thing will happen again.

PS: Locking nut?!? Wots one off them when they're at home? Mine never had one (4) of them!

UKspec RRs came with a locker on each wheel to stop thieving gits from pinching the stylish alloys and expensive tyres....they need a special "key" in order to undo them. From the sound of it, if you had them they would be well mangled by now!!!
