Hi I think my N/S front bearing is going as I have a bad noise from there and a vibration through the steering wheel.

Can you tell me do I have to replace the full hub?

Can it be done by a good mechanic without putting in to Rover dealer.

Rave reccomends replacing the complete hub assembly at around £300 per side. Replacement Timken bearings are available on Ebay for around £80 each. I replaced the bearings on both sides a few months ago and after stipping the hubs off, it took less than 30minutes to remove the old bearings and press in the new ones. You will need the use of a 30ton minimum Hydraulic Press-you will not remove or refit the bearings correctly without one as they need to be pressed out & in dead square.
Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a step by step guide.
I have the mandrels and tooling for the operation, but Bulgaria is a bit too far to send them but I am sure a local engineering company or good garage will have something to do the job. I can let you have dimensions of the tooling if you wish.
Finally, I would replace both sides whilst you are doing the job.:beer2:

At the top right side of the Landyzone toolbar page you will see "Welcome Tucker". Directly underneath you will see Private messages underlined, click on that and it will take you to the Private Message (PM) page. Enter Irishrover as the recipient and just put your personal email address and any other information you require in the message panel and send.

I will then send the information to your private email address as an attachment.
