If you drive through water that deep, make sure you drain your diffs and transfer box afterwards. Water will almost certainly enter them.
If you have extended breathers they should be fine as a rule.

Probably. But standard is always likely to be best.

Your vehicle was designed by a team of qualified motor engineers. What they specified is going to be a good overall solution.
Depends. Standard has very real limitations. And was only ever designed as an all round compromise, largely influenced by R&D costs and available existing parts.

If you want to suggest people use wheel spacers, you go right ahead.
I won't be, because I think they are often dangerous, and can actually make access more difficult in some places.

Also, you don't know the back story to this. Which is that this chap PMd a group of members, including myself, with his original request about wheel arch "extensions". I sent him a link to this forum, and he posted here, but also in the Members Vehicles section, which I have reported and has now been deleted.

I don't suffer fools gladly, so I told him what I think.
All I would suggest is people do what they want, providing its legal, which they are.
Have you any evidence to show that they’re dangerous? Any examples of wheels falling off you’d like to share with us all??
I feel disheartened I’m not in the landyzone elite and don’t know the back story.
Maybe one day when I’m perfect and know everything I might be allowed in the gang...I can only dream.
Til then il offer advice and help based on real experience and knowledge, and any I receive off other people I will always appreciate it.
There’s some excellent helpful members on this site, who’ve been around for years, there’s also people who haven’t and need help so they ask.
The whole idea of this site is to share help and experiences.

Plenty of evidence around, you could use a search engine to find it, and so could matey to find his sofas.
Becoming one of the LZ elite is pretty easy, just stay on it and keep posting, you will get there.

As you are such a caring sharing little soul, you should pop into AG for a group hug, I am sure Kurt will be happy to share with you! :)

I asked you to provide evidence, not the prompt to look myself..
Yes matey could have indeed used search,it seems past people these days,Facebook is truly horrendous for it.
Point noted regarding elite, ive been on here 8years,I feel somewhat shortchanged though to be a peasant still.
Can’t do hugs cos of covid ☹️

They don't always, but they can. Look up the incident where the little girl was killed when the wheel fell off.
Don't know of that. But I suspect in reality the spacer had nothing to do with it. At the end of the day a spacer is attached the same way a wheel is. So there is no more chance of them falling off than a wheel coming off.

That is why I can't be bothered to look it up again. Coroners court reports are usually hedged with caveats and uncertainties.
There is usually doubt, and varying levels of certainty, over any incident.
But that sort of incident is why I generally suggest to people that I don't know to consider modifications carefully.
I am not opposed to modification generally, in fact I have modified several vehicles myself.
But I do think it is good to do it in a considered way.

Well that is something I’m definitely not gonna search for, that sounds absolutely horrific.
Banter etc aside that’s just awful.

It led to a very unpleasant thread on the forum, which was taken into AG to avoid public exposure. And I think you are sensible not to look it up, it is upsetting.
