connectes to all the breather/vacum thing pipes

It's the brake booster control valve. Because the KV6 uses air assisted injectors, not all the manifold vacuum is available for correct operation of the brake servo. This little valve opens up at high manifold vacuum periods, like on overrun. This keeps the servo operating correctly.

Dam was hoping it had something to do with the emissions :(:(:(

took her for MOT YESTERDAY only thing it failed on apart from the odd blowen light buld was the emissions

Past the rev emissions ,and tester says cat is working fine is just failed on the iddle emission part was to high

KV6 engines should be clean when idling or running. Often better than more modern stuff. Did you get a print out? What reading was high?

he never gave me the reading just said the co2 on idle was way to high should be i think he said 0.2 mine was something like 1.2

I'm assuming that CO was high at idle. CO2 isn't measured, I don't think, it's not here anyway.
Check the air filter is clean/ new looking. If not and one isn't available, remove it for the MOT. High CO is unusual with an O2 sensor monitored engine. Ideally you could do with reading the live data for what O2 sensors are reporting, tthe fuel trim for each O2 could be useful too.
Check basics first like air leaks and such. But more complex investigation might be necessary. You could do with a simple OBD2 reader or adaptor to connect the ECU to an Android device running Torque.

i do have a bluetooth obd2 reader that i norm run with torque but it will not hand shake with the ecu in the car :-(

ps yes sorry CO

My Bluetooth adaptor has no problem connecting to the ECU. It should as the Freelander V6 is OBD2 compliant.
