Hi, few questions regarding a black pipe which split on my 03 plate TD4 freelander on my recent trip to lake district. I've attached a pic because its easier than trying to describe it.
Basically i was going up a very steep pass when i noticed loads of thick black smoke pooring out the exhasue. I pulled over to notice a split in the pipe which i'm pointing at in pic, bit of oil seemed to have come out too. i didn't know what the pipe is but guessing its something to do with the turbo, also i figured a split pipe cant be good so using a role of insulating tape i fixed it which seems to still be holding fine even after a 4 hour blast down motor way to get home.
Anyway- i'm wondering what the pipe is called so i can get a new one, any suggestions where from would be much appriciated too? also just wondering why the split in the pipe caused the black smoke??
any ideas anyone? Thanks, chris.
