Classic What's the going rate on a RRC? Are they nice to drive?

1, are V8 RRCs nice to drive? Is the auto box good? I have a defender TD5 manual and had a D2 TD5 manual. Compared to these, is an RRC lurvly?
2. Does 6500EUR sound about right? It spent most of its life in Spain hence minimal rust. Remember it's LHD
3. Were RRCs well built...it will I need to spend a fortune? Also considering its done 198k miles.
Lovely to drive. If it doesn't totally smoke a td5, there's something wrong with it
It sounds like an asking price. It does look mint. 4000 would be a steal IMO.
I had a 93 similar mileage, loved it. Major items I replaced over the first 5 years were rad, air con condenser, dizzy, amp, water pump, matrix rad (big dashboard out job), ignition barrel. Mine didn't have electric seats.

A classic should be a good investment, but iv never found the owner of one without a nervous twitch when he starts it up and finds his credit card falling out of his wallet at the same time, :p

You've found one now ;)
In the 16+ years of my ownership of four EFI RRC's I've never 'twitched'. Sure there have been problems but the only time any of the cars have let me down has been the odd non-start (DOK in recovery operators parlance) caused by an unexpected dead battery (either faulty or life expired) plus one occasion when a wire came off the starter.

Petrols are a delight to drive!!
diesels are ponderous except for the "peppy" 119hp vm 2.5. :D
look for rust as previously stated especially the sills, chassis, crossmembers and brake lines!!
Loved my 2.5vm, when we sold the first Spanish house we bought a twin axle caravan to bring back all of our personal stuff. Set off in February and had a propper tour,500 miles and didn't return until June. Returned 14.5 mpg. God knows what the weight was,

Yes but how many miles have you driven in your 16 + years of ownership ??? Bet the old MK2 Escort has been round the clock a few times :p:p

Where did the Escort come from  unless you are suggesting I have the use of a daily driver, which is true. Certainly I don't cover the mileage since retirement but enough I would have thought to experience more problems than I have done, should RRC's be as 'twitch' inducing as you suggest
