Can anyone tell me whats the difference between a 1983 110 chassis and a td5 chassis other than engine mounts ?

The rear crossmember, though some put TD5 ones on the earlier chassis. The fuel tank mounts are different to hold the newer plastic tank.

1983 is a series 3 I thought so would be a few inches too long.

Doesn't the engine mount in a different location?

If you're looking at a galv td5 chassis, I saw a link about fitting a bracket to cater for the different engine mounts. LR4x4 web site.
