Just a quicky,
Going to do the old 200tdi convertion on my 90
Now having removed the gearbox do i need
To save anything from it ?
Thanks bob
(Yes i know theres stickys)

Hey thanks for the quick replys,,
But am i right in thinking more work !
Levers not in the same place etc ?
Bob.
On the Disco gearbox the gearlever is behind the transfer box lever instead of in front of it.
You eill therefore have to modify the seat box as the gear lever will come up on the leading edge of the seatbox, I'll get you a photo:)

NO JonGould isn't talking about the gearbox he's on about the transferbox. you can fit the Disco's transfer box to your defender gearbox and this will change the gearing on the highrange. making the 90 faster and more ful efficient. but the downside is poorer at pulling away and towing and you'll find yourself changing down a lot more on hills.

Like this one, not the best of pics but you can see where the gearlever comes up:)

he's not putting the gearbox in though he was just putting in the engine ?

Ahhh ha
My mistake, not using disco gearbox.

Disco transfer box is only better if lots of high speed work, just knocking about you will me in fourth anyway and if anything taller than standard tyres then it will be well over geared....(in my opinion cause mine was):)

O,k thanks for all the input,
To use disco box means more work (which i dont need)
And theres lots of reasons for and against,
Been driving the old girl for 10 years with non turbo im sure the
Engine change will be just great...
Thanks everyone
Bob.
