I think I might be a bit tired and not seeing straight, for a change.

Just picked up a head gasket set from LR and was about to re-assemble the head and can't work out what all the washers n stuff is for. I'm sure there's far more here than what came off when I stripped the head down.

I found a piccie here:

Answers on a postcard please (or below so I can put it back together once I've had a :beer2:).

Easy.

Most of them anyway...
left hand side - valve guide oil seals. Go on the up side of the head, over the valve stems, Worth replacing. Remove the valve springs for access. Then, while your at it, re seat the valves.

bottom middle - manifold gasket

middle - rocker cover gasket.

inside rocker gasket - the rocker cover bolt washery oil seal things. Go in the holes in the rocker cover, top of.

Far right hand side, the sets of 4 things are injector washers - these MUST be replaced if you have removed the injectors, make sure the old ones arn't still in there.

The top left ones look like shims, im not sure where they could be though. Thats about all the ones i know of!

Someone elses turn now :)

Cheers Boydy,

Which four are the injector washers, or are both sets of four. If so which way round to they go in?

And anyone know what the rest is for?

(Oooo, I know, top middle is stat housing to head! One to me!!!)

Right back to the :beer2: as this head int going on tonight!

I think... the little ones are shaped like a ripple on water. They go hump upwards at the base of the injector hole, to dissapte heat.

The larger ones go a bit further up the hole to seal it better.

At least thats how they go in on an NA with lucas injectors, i guess the TDi ones are the same or very similar.
