Hi all iv just sand blasted my defenders chasies i was wondering what is the best think to coat it with thanks

here's me thinking he'd put a chaise longue in ... would make a change from red brake calipers i suppose

stripped mine and then painted it with Temaprime, a galv rich paint used for exposed steel etc

Then after getting to this stage...

I then sprayed it over with Gravelguard , a tough textured flexible finish....

Even removed and did the fuel tank etc as its such a bad mud trap...

Did the footwells and anything else that stayed in one place for too long :)

Hopefully the damn thing should last a year or two now :)

I did a previous chassis with hammerite.... what a terrible mistake, we have a lot of flint / stone lanes around here..

The hammerite chipped and came off leaving the chassis exposed in lots of places... looked superb before i seriously off roaded and laned it... however Id never use it again... however that is just my personal experience due to the conditions around here...

Cheers Steve

That's why stage 2 on my chassis is a libral coating of waxoyl.

yep did that but although waxoyl is good it wont creep and cover a 10p sized chip when on the outside, good inside the chassis though as long as you warm it a little to ensure a good coat on all four surfaces when spraying ... a bit easier than rolling the landy over to get a good internal coat :) as I said just personal experience with the lanes round ere but i will never again touch it with a barge pole... overpriced... and overated

as for the gravelguard.. six months and a lot of serious abuse and its not even marked.... mud doesnt stick to it very easily which is a bonus.. washes off really easy.... and it was a lot less than what my hammerited rangey chassis cost.. compressor and a schutz gun gets in every nook cranny n pinhole perfectly...... much better than brushing as brushes are difficult to get into tight spots n pinholes...

Cheers Steve

Well as mine is still a rolling chassis for another week or so looks like I may have to go get some gravelguard and give it a once over then.
