Someone run in me last week. Now the insurance company has offered me £1805 for the car which aint bad as I payed £1450 for it.
Now should I buy it back which they are saying at 25%. I can get it done for £250-£300 plus I have done the sills, rear-arches, inner-wings and a couple patches on the floor. It has a 10 mth MOT and 11 mth tax (which I could claim back). Now should I keep it or get rid? Or maybe one of you lot want it? By the way its a silver 95 V8 LPG XS

If the insurance company write it off then the MOT become null and void and you will need a VIC check by the DVLA before you can re-apply for the log book. You then have the potential hazard when you do come to sell it as it will be either a Cat C or cat D write off and will show up on a HPI check.
Personally if your making more than you bought it for i would take the offer and get another 1

Buy it back if you think you're likely to want it and keep it for a few years. If you think you might get rid within a year or so just take the money and run ... ;)

if its a good disco you could buy it back and repair yourself. if its a cat d then you dont need to have a vic so you can repair it and drive it with no problems with your current mot. only a cat c will need a vic and at that age nobody will hpi it anyway! a cat c repaired vehicle will state on the log book that at some time in its life it was damaged but a cat d says nothing and as long as it was repaired to a safe standard then why not fix it?

Well its the first offer anyway going try to push for more. Its going to be a D because its beyond economical repair. I've managed to get hold of 2 rear-quarters and bumper end caps for £60 (I bumped one side). A mate's says he'll paint the rear and the roof (its got a scab on the window one side and Id done the other side the week before the guy ran in me) for £120 as long as prep it first (which I pretty alright at to my surprise). Ive been told too that the guy got the 25% wrong it maybe 15% so they going to get back to me on it.
