What to do

Hi all been lurking for a whilst but just started posting

In need of a new car so was going to buy a , well let's just say it's probably the least popular landy to off roaders.

The plan was to use it for going to work etc and poodle down the odd green lane. The nice man in the landrover garage suggested I try a land rover experience day which I did today and thoroughly enjoyed.

The upshot of this is I now want a defender that I won't mind offroading in and any associated damage that comes with this.

My question is what defender would you suggest provides the best balance at a budget Thant won't have me in tears as branches scrape down the side etc

5k will get you a pretty good TD5 110. 90's are great fun but not very practical for day to day running due to lack of space in rear.

5K will get you a very nice 300tdi which you wont mind abusing a bit. but then again if you wanna deepender for laning and p&p days why you worried about paintwork?

At 5k I won't be worried at 25k I would, just trying to find out what model/engine etc is best to go for.

Shall have a look at them both see what I can find

300tdi is good for DIY repairs & no electrics to fook up TD5 has more power and better cab/seats etc.

TD5 is also very expensive to get fixed

Who cares about the paintwork on a 20 year old Defender?
