What the ???????

Hi guys Im in need of advice as to whats wrong!!

I own a 97 disco v8i 3.9ltr and have just discovered that it has a miss. It has a strong smell of petrol when parked up and idling but can not find the problem. I have also cleaned the spark plugs thinking it maybe a dead spark plug but that has not remedied the problem although the spark plugs were very dirty with oil.
I have checked the leads thinking that they could be frayed but can not see any problems there.
I'm not sure what to do now!

...Faulty Air Flow meter, overfueling ?! Mate of mine had this problem.

sounds like a dodgy injector possibly
