Hi everyone im just wondering what size tires i could go up to with a 2" lift and 30mm wheel spacers? land rover discovery 200tdi
All help is appreciated thank you

I want to go greenlaning and play days :) so need some decent tyres but want some big knobbly ones

Do you have road tyres at the moment ?

Learn to drive using what you have, learn the limits of your vehicle and your skill BEFORE you go jumping into big tyres ... cos in unskilled hands they're rubbish ...

I have had other off road vehicles i have insa turbos special tracks at the moment without a lift running 265/75/16... they do rub on full lock though so was thinking i could go bigger with 2" lift and tires
EDIT there isn't much arch clearance either which is why i need to lift it, can you recommend any good lift kits?

Thought about cutting the arches ?

I run 2 inch lift terrafirma all terrain medium weight on my disco 1 , and the size of my tyres are 265/65r16. the tyres stick out every so slightly without wheel spacers if you put them on you will need to chop arches. ive heard people say that you need extended bump stops but im yet to find out if it catches on full articulation

A friend had 37" Fedima Sirocco's on a Disco 200tdi ... mind, he had a 5" lift overall and cut arches. I'd guess almost anything can be made to work, or at least turn!!

The biggest issue was that even in stock form without locking diffs or anything else 'extra' or HD in the drivetrain, he broke a rear diff .. amongst other stuff. Larger tyres and Pay 'n Plays mean work needed to the drive train before fitting larger tyres unless you want to continue replacing broken stuff.

I stuck with 235 x 85 R16's on my D300 and can't recall breaking much apart from wearing UJ's out pretty quickly .. and I still use them on my current 90 .. but want 35's ... ;)

See my sig for lifting a Disco.

As for tyres. It completely depends what your goal is. Ground clearance is improved with taller tyres. But tbh, a 235/85R16 or a 7.50 x 16 should be amble for most off roading. Even at Prick & Prat sites.

90% of green lanes are passable with a 100% stock vehicle. And frankly you'd be a bit of a ****er to take a lifted Disco with Insa Turbo Special Tracks on green lanes. No need at all.

Wider tyres will rub the front radius arms under lock. You can adjust the steering stops, but then you'll have less lock. Moving tyres outward will help, either with offset rims or wheel spacers. But this can cause other negative affects. Remember to keep the tyres inside the bodywork, if the tyres protrude, you'll need some wheelarch extensions.

And a lift will have no bearing at all on the steering rubbing or not.

Personally I say don't lift unless you have too... but then that's in the link in the my sig, just in more detail. :)

If the tyres stick out of the arches, then it is illegal. They need to be covered under Construction & Use Regulations.

yeah that's what I thought but put it in for a mot couple of weeks ago and passed no advisory's the said theres no issue as long as it doesn't take the **** (not there words exactly)

It might not be an MoT test or failure point. However if you get stopped by a Police officer, you could be facing a ticket.

As I said earlier, it's the Construction & Use Regulations you are breeching.

jake , ive a 2 inch lift on mine and run 245 /75 /16 mud tyres , with spacers , no camel toe cuts and they dont chatch
