What paint have you found Best????

Hi Guys, Looking to tickle the back cross member had it Waxoiled underneath, Which is the best paint to use on the rear of the cross member, (Black)
or best undercoat treatment to prevent rust?

no paint ever stopped rust. all you do is slow it down. your lr frame's were factory painted.

My new one is Waxoyled on the inside and then smooth black Hammerite on the outer.

Black hammerite on my rear X member. I did notice today that a couple of spots of rust are showing through again though.

Tried Black Stonechip - flaked off

KBS Rustseal overpainted with Satin smooth black hammerite is the mutts nuts!

But as Andy says, you need to treat inside as well - personally recommend Ankor Wax as it's more liquid than waxoyl, easier to spray and doesn't need the surfaces to be bone dry.

Industrial Two pack is the way if it stops offshore supply boats, rigs ect rusting for a long while its bound to help a landy

Presently I'm trying the 'get it very dry then Tetra Schutz the granny out of it' approach, closely followed by the 3M cavity wax inside the chassis follow up.

My rear cross-member will be shot blasted, zinc primed via a metal arc process to bond the zinc to the metal, then given a coat of rust bullet primer followed by a spray coat of rust bullet blackshell. Then Tetra Schutz'ed like the remainder of the chassis.

If I get rust after that lot I'm giving up!

If you've got a compressor Mick, the air nossle does a great job of chasing out water and drying
