hi all i am doing a bit of work on my rear prop-shaft. 1 new uj
and a new gaiter (on the front of the prop as it goes in too ird box)
have taken the old gaiter off and its pretty black old stuff (its a very thick oil?)
well i think its oil might be old grease.
dose anyone know what grade of oil/grease goes back.
thanks
james

hello,

I don't know the answer but just to make things clearer...... the front end of the rear prop would be going into the VCU, the front end of the front prop would go into the IRD. So, is it the VCU end? midway under the car where the two props join into the VCU?

When I stripped my prop down the grease inside the front joint had turned to thickish oil, replaced with CV joint grease as previous post.
