ATF is Automatic Transmission Fluid. Ye can pick this up at most motor factors like Partco (cheaper than Halfords);)

ive just read on tinternet that changing the gear box oil and transfer box is pretty tricky. any tips?
If it's owt like me bus, then the trickiest bit is fillin' the gearbox back up. Ah made me own filler upperer;)
Have a look here for some ideas...

On mine there's two drain plugs for the gearbox, one is the main drain and the other is the extension box drain (which has a filter), just undo these one at a time with a suitable container below to catch the oil. Best take it a drive first to warm the oil up as it'll flow a bit better and be carefull not to scauld yerself;)

Remove yer filler plug before removing the drain plug.
It's embarrasin ter drain the oil then find that you can't re-fill!

Draper do a 500ml oli syringe fer about 6 quid - makes re-fillin a doddle.

Theres a motor factors in banbury called Frenco's, they're good for cheap bits, my motorbike numberplate was 6 quid, 15 quid was the cheapest elsewhere.
