i have a 2000 discovery and am buying a master clutch cylinder but there are two different killowatt engines and only one fits how do I find out which is mine

i may be wrong but I don't think they modified the clutch for different power ratings unless you want to race it and higher performance pressure plate with a higher force and clutch will be needed higher pressure plate means more leg work ..but the master cylinder also talks to the slave cylinder

its been awhile since I changed a clutch in TD5 but I do remember the clutch plate (the one that has friction material ) had no springs in the centre .. as it had a duel mass flywheel the duel mass acts as a dampener so need of dampener springs on the clutch plate and the same master cylinder was used

but if you want to convert to a solid fly wheel a different clutch plate will be needed a one with dampener springs

given the fact it a 2000 model from factory this should have the duel mass fly wheel (unless its already been converted by the previous owner

iam in sure about the master cylinder being different on curtain models though the only time I have to change master and slave cylinders is on heavier duty rigs because of high performance pressure plates and clutches

The clutch master cylinder has nothing to do with engine power, STC000280 is the p/n of the clutch master cylinder for all D2 Td5s, the difference is that on facelifts the clutch switch is screwed into it while on earlyer modells it's not
