Series 3 88'' 2 1/4 diesel looking from the front it's on the right side of the engine. It was connected to the master cylinder with a split/cruddy rubber hose but it was only connected to one of the holes.

Is this right if so what does the other hole connect to?

Any ideas or help much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

It's a vacuump pump for your brake servo. The other hole has to be open to get rid of his air. It's a hobby ish way to get a better vacuum then the faulty butterfly valve in the air intake. I assume this has been removed to give the diesel engine a better breathing.
Another solution is an electrical vacuum pump which is switched on by the brake switch. In that case you have no extra mechanical running gear.

kind regards

Thanks Laroguz,

Any more info on the 'faulty butterfly valve' how can i tell if it's been removed and if not should i?

And obviously i need this pump working.

Thanks

Andy
