Hi,

My 2002 Discovery II ES has just failed it's MOT. Garage states that this component
CIMG0069email.jpg

(described as fuel filter) is leaking. doesn't appear to be fuel filter from RAVE software I have looked at. Can anybody identify for me please?
Car has also failed on rusty brake and air suspension pipes. Garage not willing to have a go at replacing air susp pipes. Has anybody done this themselves? I recently replaced rear air bags after visiting this site - now willing to have a go at anything!!!!
Thanks in anticipation,

Thanks Jason 2, yes I've found it now. Expected that bit to be under the bonnet and I am now fathoming out the RAVE software. I shall now crawl back under my stone with a rather reddish complection.

Buy several filters, and as I do with mine, fit the poly bag the filter comes in up over the filter, and slip a rubber band up to hold it on.

This stops the filter from rusting, and means that when the car breaks down at the M6(Toll) Booth as mine did last year, you don't even get your hands dirty changing it!

In your case you will need to tuck the water-sensor cable UP out of the way and pass the baggy over its cable, or have it coming out the bottom of the polybag. As you can see, my filter doesn't have one of those, so try not bothering fitting it. Tape it up to keep its plug clean, and tie it out of harm's way.

Snip a tiny corner off the bottom of the bag to let any water out.

Done a few air suspension pipes. Cant see how they would have rusted tho as they are plastic. When you buy new ones they come as a complete harness from the valve block under the sill on the near side to the two rear air bags and from up under the rear bumper where the breather pipe runs to. This one was a pig to do as it is very tight fitting through the bumper supports the rest of the pipes are quite straight forward to do, just remember the routing of them when you take the old ones off. As for brake pipes you will need a roll of brake pipe and some fittings but you will also need a pipe flaring tool to flare the ends of the pipres correctly, if you havent done this before then i suggest getting some help from someone who has as it is safety related and needs to be right (rave wont show you how to make up brake pipes) Good luck with it.
