(Apologies for the caveman formatting in advance, I'm on my. Mobile.)

I'm having my car get a once over by my mechanic on Monday but I noticed some oil spray on the passenger side bonnet a few days a go and from what I've seen on the forum is that it could be the vacuum pump seal, which I've ordered to be replaced.

I popped my bonnet today to see if there was any more engine oil spray since I cleaned it up last time and there isn't any, however I did notice a tear in this hose (pictured below and some oil on the nuts of the engine block close to the tear. I also noticed a threaded hole without whatever is supposed to be in there not there.

Can you guys identify that hose, could it be the cause of the spray? And is there supposed to something in that hole to the left of the nuts.

A little further out so you can get bearings

Thanks in advance

That looks like an intercooler hose and when they split you can get oil spray/lack of power/black smoke/ whooshing noise when under load, either way a new hoes is your best bet.
As for the hole get a straw and have a poke, I would say its just an unused tapped hole for another application.

Thanks Lynall!
looking back its not the best pic to show the hose connections but the rest of the hose is the one in foil that connects to the metal thingy in the foreground ( im trying to get better at what the hell makes a car because im relatively clueless when im inside the engine bay!). So with that very helpful additional info, could still be the intercooler hose?

Yes that silver thing is most likely a Map sensor, but Im not familair with the tdci lumps.
The air will leave the turbocharger and travel to the radiator in front of that radiator is another radiator and this is called an intercooler its basiclaly an air to air cooler, then the air leaves the intercooler and travels to that silver thing then into the engine.
Intercooler hoses are known to fail on all makes/models of cars.
