Pro steam cleaner should shift it! ;)

Thought about that.... but a 50 mile return trip to collect...and again to return..plus the hire charge... getting a bit expensive.
There must be some sort of chemical...like over cleaner,,, that you can spray on.. leave overnight...and in the morning the sh1t is all over your driveway - surely. Now where did I leave the number for the Dragons....?:)

Chemical that will dissolve old waxoyl and underseal might not leave much of your landy behind either! ;):D

Are there any HGV or tractor places locally that have one and will let you do it for a few beer tokens?

So, today...
well backed up on ramps then jacked each rear wheel & removed in turn to have a good look underneath plus check the rear pads for wear - then came in and ordered a set...
took the rear wheels of the ramps and put the front on them, took wheels off to have a good look under the front..
left it front end up to jet wash all the underside/ engine/ gearbox to make it easier (cleaner) to do a steering box oil seal kit that I also ordered, but chose a "supposedly" OEM set ....its either ballcock or a better set than the one i bought 2 or 3 years ago..
did notice my drop arm from steering box was lose again, but not tightening yet as its got to come off for oil seal kit replacement.
while laying on a cold concrete floor, I did notice my britpart steering damper is leeking - suprise suprise -- cant be no more than 2 years old....
the plan "was" to get down and dirty tomorrow with one of my jet washers, but just seen the weather for ours - pi$$ing down all day they say....
seems it might be another feet up day with snoozing...lol

always another day eh..

Took mine for its Control Technic. (French equivalent of the MOT)
Passed, only advisory was a fuel leak on one of the injectors which just needed tightening up. Not bad for a 24 year old vehicle which is used as a daily.

check your local halfords for their foam floor tiles currently £10 and as much as I wouldn't sleep on them they do make laying under landies more comfortable and isolates you from the cold concrete. just go careful if welding as the spars melt it quite well :D

been cleaning the engine bay and trying to work out if there is a belt available to use to remove the alternator on a 300 tdi defender and put it where people usually put the second alternator as I need the room where the alternator is at the moment and just want to move it to the other side but need a longer belt.

bought a second hand head to replace mine. It has exhaust studs that are stripped and and a glow plug that has snapped off in the head so I though I would replace the whole thing.

Went to jump in it after 2 days of sitting and turned the key 'click' nothing. Light come on etc just wont even try and turn over. did this before and replaced the battery which solved it. so this battery is a few months old. Guessing I have a power leak somewhere, no idea how to test it or find it.

Ide like to build a project vehicle with a nasty sounding turbo diesel. Looking at something like an LDT 465 out of an american military truck. Sounds lovely, but i think its physically too big to fit in the landys engine bay. Does anyone know of a dirty derv that will fit in the front? Something with a nice turbo whistle.

used mine to rescue the work terrano then ended up completing it's work and dragging back 3 isuzu 3.1 engines with gearboxes 6 rear axles and 3 front axles/subframes.
for 21yro she did well was a bit difficult in the roadwork traffic with the hill start and a weak handbrake but she got home fine. really need my transfer box to select properly would have been alot easier in that traffic in low range.
anyone know if it's possible that the range selector has got damaged and if it's possible to renew it as there is alot of play on the lever and I can't get the adjustment right to reliably select both high and low it' one or the other

Battery mite need drop testing with a drop tester, if you don't understand what i mean you have to remove the battery and take to an auto factors and get them to test it it will tell the con'd of the battery so if its pretty new it should be under warranty anyway :)

search fleebay12v fuse tester you will find ones that you plug in instead off the fuse and gives you a power reading through that fuse to see were your power drain is most car places also stock hope this helps.

might just be an idea Animal...
I do have a boot carpet out of a mondeo I scrapped but even that gets cold.
I`m getting old I guess ;)

So, today.
a change of plan left me in tightening up the nut on the steering drop arm & relocking the washer.
I sprayed under both front wheel arches, axle, engine and all I could see with a 50% mix of TFR (traffic Film Remover) or hard serface cleaner if you will,
then jet washed it all in readiness for playing spot the leak on the steering box, but pretty sure its running out the bottom...

the cange of plan now needs it back with front wheels on, all 4 back on the ground , and be out on the road as a family sickness has brought foreward the need for my lexus being loaned out again...
after I had it washed and fuel put in the tank...

no prob it's excellent for laying under the landy and fits tight between the wheels so you don't have to keep moving a little kneel pad about. i'm 6'3" and can easily lay out flat on it without finding the edges
