What have you done to your Landie today.

Bought some hose clips for my pipes.

Engine sitting in 90 nicely, putting clips on tomorrow

Need more blue paint to finish it off maybe :scratching_chin:

Today after what feels like months, I got back in to the workshop, and turned two more of the oillite bush housings out, and carried on turning the new spring hangers.

Sorted out the back drum brakes. Good job I ordered the brake cylinders as although the old ones were working they were full of water and perished. Hub oil leak sorted and steering drop arm replaced. Think while I'm at it I will replace the steering damper and front section of the exhaust pipe. That should keep me going till the spring I hope.

Checked fluids and tyre pressures. After lunch, I may get it wet on the outside.

Changed engine oil and filter, diff oil and found that I can see more of the inside from under the wheel arches than I would like too :doh:

Hoovered it out and left it running with heaters on all day to dry carpets out a little

Redid the cambelt because it was running like a bag of sh*te after I set it without getting the inspection plug out to check the flywheel position (it was seized in )

After getting it out with heat and a dot punch I found that an old flywheel retaining bolt fits in the inspection hole in the flywheel housing. Tightened lightly against the flywheel it just stops it turning while you get the belt on.

Runs like a dream now

Tried for half an hour in the cold on a damp floor with an arthritic neck and back, couldn't get blanking plug out, hammered socket on it and it just stripped the nut, gave up and used the arrow on the timing chest and the woodruff key as a guide

My brother helped me to get it out last night, him with blowtorch and me with hammer and dot punch, bloody pain, should have done it while the engine was out on the trolly

Any way lost half a day doing it again, loosing another half day tomorrow cause Speke landrover cant tell the difference between 200 and 300 tdi even with cahssis no and reg no and being told its 200tdi ffs. have to swap the intercooler hose as its separating, turning out into a big job this engine swap

managed to cover the first door card in grey elephant hide with contrasting yellow pocket / speaker housing, yellow is slightly warmer than the landy but should look the part against the grey rangie seats n yellow bodywork









and managed to recover the dash top at the same time.....



just 3 more cards to go lol

only joking bud.yes it would of been easier when it was on the bench.it will be worth it in the end.if you get the right parts that is.

Them yellow elephants are protected you know, shouldn't be using their skin just for speaker pods.

it's ok they are indian yellow elephants.... 2 a penny here in Twickenham.... unlike the rare arctic yellow elephant u refer to

I'm aching all over mate, can only manage a few hours at a time that's why its so slow

I don't really like lr land rover (speke) only use them really for emergency as it's handy but you are rite Pete they never get parts rite even when I have mine parked outside.

Had mot on wifes freelander and it PASSED
