What have you done to your Freelander today

Replaced off-side passenger window mech', easy-peasy, nice and smooth now. May just do the other one as that seems on its way out.

I'll second that - I may even think about a tatty old L series as a toy just to try some of this stuff on.

Replaced number plate light bulbs

Who the funk decided fitting an intercooler then feeding it with shi'ite out of the engine was a good idea!?!

Spent an hour buggering about cleaning the EGR - it'd have been quicker buying a blank kit!

new clutch its so lite i keep bang en the peddle to the floor.
and have spend the last 3 evenings polishing her. smooth and shiny now also polished engine bay looks nice

Changed oil and filters and fitted 4 lovely new insa turbo tyres

I'm creating a monochrome car -started the changes today:
Replaced number plate light bulbs with LED's
Painted side vents to matt black
Replaced rear reflectors with LED reversing/brake light units

changed the ird oil and diff oil checked auto gearbox oil still a nice redish colour even after 198000 miles

Sprayed the top half of the instrument binnacle in satin black.

The beige was a nightmare, going from really bright sunlight to a shaded part of road under trees or whatever threw up a massive reflection of the binnacle on the windscreen....couldnt see anything else. Its much better now.

Afternoon All,
so in between the showers I've managed to fit a towbar I've changed the standard 7pin socket to a 13 pin but not wired in the aux loom.... (sorry no pic's as it said security token was missing)

I did exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago for exactly the same reason. That thing was so distracting it was unreal. Much nice with it done, so much so that i'm tempted to whipe the whole dash out and give it all a quick whizz over with a rattle can!!!!

Yeah, I am considering doing more of the dash....if not the whole thing at least the top surfaces.

It wouldnt be too hard to mask off and spray it in situ.....removing the dash isnt too hard, but I am very lazy.

What paint are you using?

Satin black spray paint, wilko's own brand. £3 something per can

Didnt want a glossy finish and thought matt would look a bit weird so went for a satin with a 30-40cm spray distance, gives a nice even coat as opposed to spraying too close and getting glossy patches.

Exactly as above. I am sure there are probably fancy plastic paints I should have used, but basic satin black from the DIY shop worked fine for me.
I gave it a blast with brake and clutch cleaner to degrease it and remove any old dash cleaner residue first then just sprayed a few light coats of paint.

The old polish was what was worring me, but that's a good idea with the brake cleaner, I've got a few bits to do so a big can of brake cleaner is now on the shopping list - Cheers Chaps
