What have you done to your Freelander today

A few weeks ago I removed the lower rear light guards as both were cracked & one had a bit fall off on the driveway.
Today I glued both back together properly, then cut up an unused stainless steel wire shelf, bent the strips into the correct shape, dropped them into the channels on the rear of the light guards & used a glue gun to secure them in place.
Once it was dry I cleaned them up & screed them back onto the lights.
Should be a little stronger now.

Knocks occur usually when changing gear...... Sounds like someone hitting floor of car with something metallic.... Funny but doesn't seem to do it as often since changing diff mounts. Seems to be coming from drivers side to the rear of driving position.

Sounds like rear sub frame. If you lay under the car and see where the subframe is bolted to the car. Get a lever or a bar between the front drivers side of the subframe, near the bolt(if that makes sence) give it a wiggle and you should hear the same click.

If you think its that then you can lift the rear carpet and find a little grommet that you can pick out in there you will see the metal split where the subframe bolts on.

I hope this makes sence. The captive nut for the subframe bolt sits in the chassis rail. It is slightly loose and I think it's designed to be like that, the problem is the thin metal it's attached to.

While at work between jobs.......Attacked my new (to me - thanks Kizzeh) side bars with angle grinder, hammer and a welder, new brackets now attached.

More holes to weld up, some holes to drill and a coat of paint needed. Gonna look good when they are done though.

Rivnut so turned up yesterday so I can bolt them to something too!

Refuelled it, checked fluid levels and tyre pressures.

Put about 1/2 litre of water in the header tank.

I think I need to fix that heater matrix......

Got forced to pick up a bloody guinea pig hutch. Bloody thing didn't fit out the window either! Another thing strapped to the roof. I really must buy some roof rails. Anyone want rid of there's?

i am selling roof rails but its either sort ya own courier or collection

took the boot carpet out yesterday to dry it as i had a pond in the TD4 and i put it on the radiator and tunred the heating up to 25c all night

she was to hot all night and did nowt but moan now im home with a sleep deprived woman who is also in a mood

on another note I drilled a 3 mm hole in the cubby hole floor to drain the water there was 3ltr of water i no i caught it and measured it (im sad) as i wanted to no so i went on to trying to find the leak

the only thing i have found is the trim running along the top of the window was not clicked in enough and there was a 1-2 mm gap in the middle one swift bang later and it was back in

now with the water from the foot-well i used that and more to cover the rear of the car in water while i sat in the boot looking for the leak and to say 10ltr of water later there was no wet inside the car

hopefully i have cured this

today's job the mobile tyre guys is coming out to put my AT from my L series on to my TD4 wheels not happy at the £60 charge but the TD4 tyres are only summer ones

then have to get round to swapping the back box its not blowing but the outter skin is rusted and the last owner on Sunday was kind enough to give me the rear box he had already bought

Sorted the battery clamp with a clamp sourced from eBay and a coach bolt bought from my local hardware store for 20p! They didn't have any J bolts which if you saw the shop would surprise you…

A bit of a fiddle trying to hold the bolt while getting the nut on! Better than the self tapping screws and penny washers (not me!) that were holding the battery tho'

Also hoovered the back out and discovered it was all a bit damp, not the usual cubby pond, but lid was damp underneath and damp under the rubber mat I had in the boot. Cubby lid and mat in garage now to dry off…

Owning a Freelander is definitely a hobby!

fitted new brake shoes new cylinders and new springs and clips to my td4
gave everything a good old wire brush up and clean before fitting all working present and correct now no more scraping noises pretty easy job really probably 2 hours with about 6 tea breaks in between to keep me warm cos its bitter cold outside
