been thinking of an electronic speedo conversion for the Ninety, it' 'origonal' speedo is in km (as an ex-Army Landy) and interesting when accuracy is concerned:confused:

theres a few manufacturers of programmable electronic speedometers like Stack & VDO and also unbranded on ebay etc.

subject of ebay, looked @ VDO as they're similar to the origonal 80's LR items and there was one advertised as a tachometer (but photos of a speedo) for sensible money so some bidding followed:cool:
delivered today and it's a speedo so happy-days:D

came mounted in a dashtop 'pod' and pre-wired, live / earth & signal with the live & earth bridged to the illumination, I'll probably keep this as such (K.I.S.S.)

I'm thinking of fitting a 'hall-effect' sensor in place of the old speedo-cable on the transfer box to generate the vsso_O

Haven’t touched mine for a couple of weeks due to illness, so had a rummage underneath today - should have stayed in doors in my slippers…looking pretty flimsy behind the fuel tank!

Opened the door & took my tool box out. Noticed water In Footwell from door tops.
Lifted the ifor rear flap up & filled it up with more old carpets from house renovations.
Started up & moved a few feet.
(Fixed the fuel pump on the horse box night heater for extra bonus brownie points)
 
Chums - torqued up the track rod ends, fitted new steering damper bolt and fitted the split pins.
Question, I notice a little cracking on the engine mount…whilst I have access I’ll swop it out. Is it easy to get clearance with a pry bar or do I need to slacken anything else off?
 
Nice plume of diesel on the road and saw that my fuel filter was leaking. When I was renovating Landy I didnt have a budget and so some things got Britpart and somethings didn't. Yes it was a Britpart fuel filter and yes it was corroded. I had a Mahle one I was going to change over anyway so I whipped off the crap one and then I saw that the Fuel Filter assembly was hanging off. Ho Hum. I checked online and £130 seems abit steep for a replacement so I will have to wait until payday for that. In the meantime I have fabbed a metal support and then attached via one of the bolts into the chassis and a big hose clamp around the filter to support it. Even better to do these things when its honking down as well. Brilliant.

Undo nuts & jack up. A bit of cable looped around the threads will save your fingers gettIng squashed when your putting this back together.
 
windeee today and a few trees in our garden looked sorta wobbly so out with the bowsaw...

one tree was a little loose in the ground and getting moved by the wind so secured with a strap & sling to the Ninety while I got brave with a ladder...

I'd already 'topped' (well, sorta) one tree, reversed the Ninety up to it & stood on it's roof to attack with the saw:D and this was the second victim.

@zed, if near West Berks I'd come and help you log up that lot for the log burner and/or firepit. May be you need a fire pit too...or install a log burner ready for next winter? And if garaged the logs would be nicely dry come November...
 
@v8250, you're about 125 miles east of me via M4 so I doubt you'll be wanting to help with the wood:D

as to firepits & logburners, guess what my mrs has been deciding since yesterday:confused:

as to storing logs inside, we've a minor issue with storage as it is so that's not happening:oops:

A piece of angle iron normally does the trick. pre drill it first.
How’s the rest of the repairs going?
I have a load of spares on the shelf ready to go. I reckon with a fair wind I could get the near side repairs done and the bulkhead panels. I suspect the off side will require similar once I start digging. Tbh I’ve had to stop myself buying a 90 :D twice - need to see this through.
