Just seen a fender with a rather nice grill.

It was a bit like the heritage grill, but a proper series style woven mesh as opposed to punched.

Im thinking it may have been a stage one grill, but cant find a decent pic of one, I really liked it, unlike every other aftermarket grill Ive seen, it suited the fender and wasnt too blingy, but will give better protection that the current bit o placcie

any ideas??

WMIK grill?

Sounds like a stage one grill:

twas a stage one grill, might have to get me one of those, all the other aftermarkets are too blingy, the stage one one looks just right :)

I'd love one on mine but couldn't find one for sensible money. Instead I got a Land Rover WMIK grill (do a google search) which is all metal, and a genuine (albeit military) part

Having said that if you've got a bit of patience making yourself a stage one reproduction isn't terribly difficult..

Fancied a Stage-1 grill on my 90 and although I got one for a very decent price I eventually decided not to fit it and fitted a Nakatanenga Herritage style one instead.
Many years ago someone was doing a very nice grill using interwoven SS mesh and a SS pressed surround. It wasn't cheap and I haven't seen them available for a long time now but if they ever became available again I would definately get one as they were such a nice piece of kit. I guess they were just too expensive for many people and weren't viable to make which is a real shame.
There are cheaper (read naff) options out there but this one was really nice.
