I have no idea how that ought to be done but prising the top & bottom apart like that doesn't look good to me.
Surely it was put in by a press?
And.....where was the application of heat in this endeavour?

Correct, should be done using pressure only on the fork for the ball joint that is being removed or replaced. You tube is full of this stuff and people follow and cock things up. Put in interference fit. Max three changes according to Land rover.

Reading RAVE is easy, for some understanding what is said is quite a different matter. There are errors here and there in RAVE.

Hmm wouldn't know as i haven't read it ;) :D

Watching that cast Iron flex had me cringing, 'twas half expecting it to snap..

It's actually cast steel i would think. But spreading the forks is not a good idea for lots of reasons. You can mostly get away without having to centralise the drive shaft to the oil seal if you are careful. This needs a very expensive special tool. Complete cock up and not the way to do it.

That is horrible.
I got the swivels out using the correct tool with no problem. I put the new ones in the freezer for 24 hours before fitting them and they slid in nicely.
