hi, am new to the forum so thought id make my first post a good one.

I have recently bought a series 2a swb landy. It has a 3.5l rover v8 fitted in it, i believe that it is from a range rover, according to the previous owner who didnt know a lot! i was wondering how i can tell exactly what engine it is as i need to do a full service on the landy and need to know the spec for the relevant parts.

also, does anyone know if a s2a needs seatbelts to pass an mot as it has 4 point harnesses fitted and i want to remove the seatbelts.

Cheers for any help

yes deffo from a rangie. As far as i know Its just referred to as a 3.5v8. the later ones had a ecu and fuel injection, but i guess yours doesn't and uses carbs??

About the seat belts - check the aa website www.theaa.com its on there somewhere.

It could be from anything, the 3.5 (carb) was fitted as standered to a lot of landrovers including the 101, stage 1 v8, pre 1985 range rovers, 90/110/127 and discos 1989-1993. The engine number should tell you exactly what it came out of,its located by the dipstick tube on the block.

Either way the landrover oil filters stayed the same through out its life span (part number ERR3340).
