What engine is this in a 2008 110

So its a 5 cylinder transit engine and best avoided then?

Sorry, I didn't show my sarcasm there. By wrong I simply meant it wasn't a proper land rover engine, as in a TDI or td5, not that it had been shoehorned in by a back street garage. Hope that clears things up.

I asked jeeves - 3.2 litre ford puma - came up with quite a few well known names who have been fitting them to defenders. Can also be mapped etc to make lots more horse power.

As per the above - The engine has been offered for sale on its own - it's a 3.2 tcdi. Google 3.2 tcdi. One too many injector pipes on the rail for the standard engine.

Yes the torque is good, just amazed by the lack of outright power. I was expecting it to be around 250 considering my 1.6 diesel Honda CR-V makes 118 with 158 for the better models yet an engine twice its size only makes 22 more.

Same as the TD5 really, only 122bhp from a 2.5 litre turbo diesel.
I guess it's a balance, l bet that 3.2 Puma goes well in a larger vehicle even with "only" 180bhp

The max power and torque will be delivered much lower down the rev range than the Honda engine, sometimes there's no substitute for capacity when you're looking for low end grunt.
