1 tons have 11x3'' on the front and 11x2'' on the rear with salisbury.....why make things more complicated than they need to be?

I fitted disco axles because i was breaking too many diffs and shafts with the series axles, never had an issue with the drum brakes even with the V8 fitted, discs brakes all round was a bonus.

Nice :) What are the holes in the bonnet for?

It used to get a bit hot before i had the rad modified to 4 core not 3 so i cut the holes to try get the heat from each manifold to disperse better, works well :)

The only thing I have done to my 109 is to replace the old 3 bearing engine with a 5 bearing one. I like the way it drives, and if I wanted something that looked like a series but drove like a Defender or Disco, then I would have bought a Disco or Defender (although I already have 1 of each:p) and stuck a series body on it, rather than bastardising a perfectly good series landy.

Yeah but you treat yours a little rougher than most :p Everyone has different things they like about Series and things they wouldn't do to one.

Gotta 200Di in mine which to some is sacrilege. I bought it with a horrible Perkins 3.3 in and didn't fancy putting it back to the original 6 pot. There again I think wheel arches are just plain wrong ;)

To some they're a comp vehicle, to others a showpiece....and to a few they're a daily driver :)

Yours looks like my childhood image of a series land rover :D

You too :)

Ahh the Perkins 4203, what a beast, did you run it around much before replacing it?

I purchased a similar 1969 2a 6cyl with 4203 is my first LR (second ever car)

My bloody exhaust manifold always kept cracking at the front especially when I went off roading, it ended up with about 1/4" of weld by the time I ripped to engine out.

When the engine started to cough lumps of oil out of the crank case breather I was jobless, so ironically the cheapest engine replacement at that time was a V8

In those days the diesel of choice was the 2.5Di from the transits (if you had £4K+ to spend you could get the Mazda SL35T)

The 200Tdi had only just appeared so was unatainable.

Then I bought a 1972 Range Rover with a Pekins 4236

Currently trying to get an MOT... First attempt is tomorrow, I'm expecting it to fail but need to know what needs done as I'm not really sure.

Hi what do I want to do to my series?? Let me think ah yes go for more than 2 miles without breaking down, that would be bliss

i'll guess you have an accumulation of problems that need working through or you're exagerating the frequency of the breakdowns

I want to change all the bolts to imperial or BSW (original).
I am tired of carry both metric and imperial around with me, and having to crawl out from under the truck to get the other. (previous owners) lol

Just got my towbar and adaptor for the 80" today

Needs painting and then I can install it.

get the bastard 109 legal then set about putting my abomination 2a back to how she was with some tdi power I like the 2.25 but I like the power and the economy of tdi and the fact it makes it useable when im playing in the forest as for the others they can wait there turn to be resurrected from sleep and slumber

I have my '78 109 wherei want in mechanically 200tdi to lt77 to lt230. No i want to get the interior set up. Boost and oil pressure guages, xtreme liner the interrior and seal and pad the whole thing. . . lots of detail work to make it more comfortable but still rugged.
