i know there are many TD5 overheat threads and i know all about the symptoms and checks but im after some opinions on todays experience.
My 2001 td5 had H/gasket done 2yrs ago and ever since seem to loose a bit of water every 2 months say about a litre, which i top up when needed.
Have done soem long runs this last month and this morning the temp rose above the normal mid way point to a point where it just started to lose its power, i think i caught it in time as as soon as i saw the temp rising and the power dropping I pulled into a pub car park.
Switched off and the fans were buzzing away, when cooler i undid the expansion tank and it filled up with water, once pressure had gone the water dropped down and left the tank empty.
no signes of water loss and have now refilled with water.
So, do you think I have damaged anything or have I caught it in time ?
Temp gauge did not Max out, no red lights.
Any views much appreciated.
Cheers
