You are a bit stuck then.

Or stick diagnostics on and see if it is disabled? Then learn to use a multi-meter.

I had the same problem on my old DSE and that was broken wiring from the stalk. I also have it on the current one but haven't had time to investigate yet. I expect it to be the same though. It's fiddly but fixable with a soldering iron and heat shrink. The wires will look OK on the outside as the insulation will be fine but one or more will be broken on the inside.
