What colour is my Landy? Marine Blue?

In the process of rebuilding door tops and I need to paint my replacement frame on the drivers side.

I will most likely move to a full canvas hood so am thinking that I'll have the door tops the same colour as the rest of the exterior.

Am I right in thinking that mine is Marine Blue? It looks darker on the colour cards I see online but I'm not great with colours...

I would have said yours is marine blue, same as mine, going by your little picture. But I have struggled with a match.
I have bought 2 tins of paint recently, and am very unimpressed with the last one which I used today. In the pics below, the right hand side is a custom mixed aerosol from an auto store which is bit lighter than the landie, but not far off a match. On the left is a tin of "enamel gloss" from Ebay, and it is a totally different blue, looks more like Cobalt blue to me.

I wondered if anyone else has the same issue buying Marine blue, and getting this much brighter colour? Even if I spend the extra and go to The Paint Man, am I going to get the same issue?
I am not trying to hijack the thread, just got a similar question. Thanks

This is the Ebay tin I bought:

Thanks.

Paint matching is a nightmare! That ebay paint is totally wrong, although in the guy's defence he does warn it's not for matching previous paint.

I'll be painting my whole exterior so I will buy all mine from the same place, probably my local motor factor who have been fine for other projects.

The fun will come if I need to touch up the interior...

Cheers,

Al.

No new paint will match the old paint well as it has not had years of wear and weather. I tend to go for something that is near enough and in 12 months once it has weathered down you then cant really tell. Unless you do it all at the saem time with the same batch of pint you will always get differences. I did mine over about a 12 month period with the same batch but due to the different ages if you really look closely you can see the difference, but unless you are chasing concourse perfection no one will notice one a land rover. Especially after you have scuffed it along a couple of hedges and some mud on a green lane of two.

+1 for Paddocks, good paint and reasonable price. I have used Paintman for the less common Land Rover colours and found 'him' to be very good also as pointed out a little more expensive. This is a pic of a SWB I painted using Paddocks Enamel applied with a 4" foam roller.

The roof and wheels were painted using Paddocks 'Limestone' enamel as well.

I would agree with @wireman that the paddocks paint is very good, and it is what I used for the series. But it is just HMG enamel paint mixed to the land rover pint code. When I came to do the 110 (same colour) I found a local supplier which had a better grade of HMG enamel and could mix it up using the saem paint code. This worked out a little cheaper than paddocks as I was able to order larger tins and didn't need to pay postage.
I would also second his usage of a foam roller, have done both of mine that way and unless up close you cannot tell, and certainly now a few years on with sun fade, and hedge scratches there is no difference between that and a professional job.
