Hi guys

Just wondered what everyone is getting for their defender's this Christmas, i'm getting mine a silicone intercooler hose set as my old ones are starting to go soft and if possible a pair of rear dislocation cones :D

probs same as you with the silicone stuff n looking at a cree light bar too!! :)

oh n maybe a new cb radio er think that might be it, although it could do with a new rear prop n all the usually stuff doing on it!! lol

What to get my Defender for Christmas should be a new off side swivel joint but at Land Rover prices it will have to make do with replacing the oil with one shot grease.

Let me say why Land Rover parts. I have a very fussy Defender named “Buster” because it breaks most things, all year I have given it presents and some it rejected out of hand, I try not to pamper to its likes but it will insist on rejecting some things.

First off I gave it a new B---part HiLo switch for the transfer gearbox whilst fitting it Buster was not at all happy and caused the switch fall to pieces. Got one from Land Rover Buster likes that one and it is working perfectly.

Then came the windscreen wiper park switch from B---part, Buster was not able to get along with it. It was OK for a while (two weeks) then Buster rejected it and refused to switch off the wipers when asked to do so. A new one from Land Rover made Buster happy and has been working fine for the last six months.

That is just two examples of the way Buster reacts to strange parts, I think he is a snob and only the best will do for him, I wish he would try and get along with things that do not have Land Rover DNA but he just rejects them sometimes instantly sometimes after a very short time.

Other things have been:-
All M---s side lights Buster allowed water to get in within days of fitting
All M---s front amber indicator lights same water issues
B---part replacement door lock barrels not working after nine months

Anyone else experiencing a similar situation with a fussy Defender and how are you dealing with it?

I've just spent the last 7 months giving her a new chassis and rebuild, she can do one if she thinks she is getting anything else!

(ok, maybe some led lights, if she behaves)
