I've seen these on eBay before and considered buying one but I thought why would people pay a lot more for a farm jack or a tirfor winch unless these things are ****.

I would be interested to know if they were up to much though

Had one of those for years. Useful little tool but I think 2 tons is a bit optimistic. I've used it as an engine hoist and while it works OK I never felt like I'd get underneath it just in case. Bear in mind, the whole thing is about 18" long and one stroke moves the hook about 1". You can lower the load safely with it as well and £12.99 is good value.
It is most definitely not a substitute for a Tirfor though if your thinking about vehicle recovery.

I got something similar for straightening the tub on my Sankey and it did the job, handy thing to stick in the garage "Just in case", and at £13 you can't go wrong. BUT I'm not sure it would stand up to regular abuse, and certainly no substitute for proper kit. All depends what you want it for I suppose;);)

for £12.99 i cant see it being great quality. :(

And you know it will break at that crucial moment!
