What a fantastic start to the day, answered a for sale ad on lro for a rear wheel carrier, ad said bought 1998 , good useable hd swingaway wheel carrier, quick trip round the m25 to collect for £55 thinking a clean and paint n it'll do for the 110, needed a heavy duty one due to the 37's, anyway what he didn't mention was although he bought it in 98 he left it in its original bubble wrap in the loft n never fitted so for £55 I have a brand new swing out carrier, he then said if that's a bit much I also have a brand new pivlock that was bought first and never used and i can have for £35 :0 after closing my gaping mouth I did the sensible thing n got both for £80 but that wasn't the end of it ........

After paying for the two wheel carriers stroke of luck number 3 appears..... We get talking about our rovers n he says ive got an allard performance intercooler for a 300 I'm selling so i said can I take a look to see what condition its in and would you beleive another treasure from the loft..... Not just an allard intercooler but the full stage 2 allard kit, brand spankers in its delivery box including the normal / nutter in cab selectable switches solenoid and wiring...... And to make things that little bit better he says does £90 sound fair????? Needless to say his hand will still be smarting I bit it off so fast one very happy bunny and looks like folks were right when they said the 90 wouldn't stay standard long lol

Finally it was time to do some work lol, out with the old worn flanges and in with the nice shiny HD TF flanges, not desperately needed as it wont be hammered off road but they are shiny so must be worth a good 10bhp also ran a bead of clear silicone around the wheel centre join before water ever gets a chance of getting in, modulars are good but it is their Achilles heel and ruins the look when water starts rusting em out, every bit helps lol

All in all an excellent day... guess tommorow will be intercooler fitting time :)

Cheers Steve

Lovely. Makes you wonder about some people who shell out loads of money on premium parts and then don't even unwrap them. When I buy Land Rover accessories the packaging is more or less shredded before the postman has let go of them. Still, it's your gain.

More Allen screws I see. Is there any bolt on your machine that's not an Allen screw?

I put Loc-tite on mine rather than grease - I don't want them coming out!
i would do but im a bit wheel bearing ocd.... i clean n grease bearings every couple of months when on the road so they get checked regular as clockwork, esp as this toy will be running 60mm spacers

amazing how many collapsed bearing posts you see but folks havent checked em since the last mot and wonder why :)

cheers steve

Yes, might change mine over Christmas. Not that there's anything wrong with the current set, but they've done nearly 70,000 miles and they're wear items. I shall keep away from Britpart, needless to say.

that one is fixed to rear door as well but the weight is taken by the crossmember and rear tub fixings,it makes the door stiffer to open , i find them better than the pivlock latch type but you might find them easier with been able to leave wheel swung out whilst doors shut

That is a rather good day indeed! I'm on the market for those exact items but i feel my wallet will end up a lot lighter than yours :)
