Just went to do a drop off at the station favour. I got in and was shocked to find the entire windscreen covered in beads of water - ON THE INSIDE. As if it had been rained on or a really heavy lot of condensation had formed.
None of the other windows, just the front screen. She's been stood there for 5 or 6 days, carpets feel dry.
Cannot see any water track-marks anywhere and no loss of coolant. I am mystified as to why/how it got like that.

I might get a dehumidifier to pop in there and run it up, see what happens.

If you run the aircon, it will be evaporation from the condensate residue, happens on both mine when the temperature drops and they haven't been used for a few days.

Ahhh... right, that must be what it is. If I switch the A/C to off when parking up, and before switching off does it make a difference/close a flap or whatever I wonder? I shall have to try it.
Happens to most cars in winter sun.
Strangely, the wife's BMW based Mini Cooper has no such condensation. Odd really.

Might be worth checking the drain pipes are not partially blocked.
Switching off the aircon before switching off the engine will make no difference.
It's all down to the design of the heater box and whether or not any condensate remains trapped.
Having said that, I get the same in the Transit with no aircon, but that's down to a very small leak around the windscreen that keeps the head lining damp.
Warm air holds more moisture that cold air, so moisture given off by the body in a warm car is held in the air until the glass gets cold when it condenses out.
 
I think a lot of it collets in the filters, that's why ppl get problems with rust and blockages
 
You mean silica gel not balls that light up (incandescent)
Yea I couldn't remember the name of it, I got about 8 packs from the bay, and they work well, after a few weeks the thing is just full of water and all the balls have melted
 
One of my pet hates when I ran my garage was the number of cars coming into me with the heater set to recirculating air, trying to explained that would cause a massive amount of condensation when the car cooled down was often met with a blank stare,
You need ventilation, yes put it on recirculating air if behind a smelly truck or inside a tunnel but once clear allow air to enter to remove the moisture, if you have aircon then that will work well if the drains are clear and should be used all year round, unbelievable the amount of drivers think you cannot have heat and air con on at the same time,

Running the aircon all the time on the P38 helps keep the electronics dry and corrosion free.
 
The P38 is spacious interior wise. Was always a defining feature, until recent changes to marketing :rolleyes:
There’s a lot of volume in that cabin,
This time of year the change in atmosphere even overnight can cause bit itl dry out in summer ;)
