Good evening,
What is the best way to protect a distributor on a v8 discovery from water... besides getting a diesel. Its a pain drying it out after a trip through water or does every one do this ?

try spraying the outside of it wiff a **** load of hair spray

or get a rubber glove and try and get two wires through each finger and the HT up the thumb. then secure wiff rubber 'o' rings

hair spray is much better cos it dries and forms a protective coating that dunt come off easy..

Does it make your HT leads nice and shiney, full of body, no dandruff?

certainly does and it sure keeps the water away.. you ever seen a wumum's hair thats got hair spray on it, in the rain?

We had Austin Champ 4x4s a long time ago.
RollsRoyce engines, with fully waterproof electrickery.

Once it got wet and stopped going it took at least all day to take off the distributor cap thing, and getting a plug cap off was an act of sheer magic. The plugs were special things too. And useless.

Great gearboxes .... reverse was a separate box, so it went as fast backwards as forwards. Overturned really easily going backwards ...

Junk car. Too heavy, too slow, too greedy-guzzly, no doors or roof to speak of, no heater, but did have a snorkel. Horrible to drive. Ghastly suspension tyres and steering.

Then we started getting series Landies ....

Don't tell anyone but I will be one year short of an OAP on the 28th of this month. It's been quick, but I am still having a lot of fun.
