ok my engine build is coming to an end, my next annoying issue is the front foot wells, both are damp, the passenger side more so, i had a windscreen fitted last year and the common holes around the windscreen were repaired, all the lower welding done and seam sealed (everything below dashboard level that i can find that is), i park my car on the drive which is sloped back to front, so the back is high and front is low, i know the rear port windows need resealing, but could this be the source of my foot well woes?

Only one way to find out, lift the carpet and sound proofing and next time it's raining watch for the water drips, a bright torch will help.
You must have a lot of water if it's coming in at the rear of the vehicle and traveling to the front footwells.

ive already done that, when it rains you can see water collecting on the relay plate behind the glove box, then steadily drips onto the floor, what i can see, because of all the wiring etc, is the source of the water, from what i can see it looks to be dripping/flowing from the a post down the wing wall, onto the wiring loom eventually settling on the relay plate

I used to sprinkle chalk dust all over and above the suspect area - you can easily see where the water is coming from then. Access will obviously be more difficult in a D1 than a Defender, but the theory is the same. Just a thought...

So nothing to do with " i know the rear port windows need resealing, but could this be the source of my foot well woes" then u have answered you question :D
