Went to the workshop tonight to check her out before the Wales trip.

I thought she was handling a bit strange since Saturday

I had broken a shocker on Saturday, snapped in in two completely

Neil says I can now call myself a proper off roader

BLOODY HELL!

Glad you found it before the Wales trip. I didn't think Matty was modified enough to go snapping shocks - usually only here of that when people go for lift kits for the landy & drop kits for the shocks to alter the travel distance.

me thinks about time there wos changed....

hello all i am or must be a bit paranoid but that chassis needs a good clean up and paint or wax oil you can spend thousands of pounds on your landy but if you chassis is slowly rotting away what is the point ,yes i know they rot from the inside out as well but ever thing needs a good foundation ,start at the roots and work your way up .or is it just me. m

tis just you
unless its a brand new un, your just sealing shiit under the sealing.
plus first time you get the jetwash or steam cleaner too close you blast the sealing off.
its also harder to spot cracks appearing or rust holes opening up under the sealer.

and its a pain in the arrse to weld it.

Yes I thought that too. But Neil explained its not a good idea so I just try to keep it clean. Didn't do a very good job this week though

point taken but prevention is still better than a cure ,do they not come painted from new?what about wax oil ?

may be we should have a landy zone vote to wax oil or not to wax oil .m

pretty sure theres a poll already out there re chassis protection.
agree, prevention's better than cure, but when you look at the age of stuff, how effective protection will be, how often it needs applying, and what its used for, all needs taking into account.
people ask me if galvy chassis's are any good? yes, until you bend or scrape it off road and crack the galvy protection off.
having said that, any welding I do gets a coat of paint and underseal.

****, just been asked to transport a rescue case to Macclesfield.

No way I have time tonight and I have important meetings in the morning

Also dont really fancy such a long journey with a horse in a terrible state. If it goes down in the trailer its a hell of a job to get them out. Dont know why they cant stable it somewhere local until it recovers a bit
