I went last sunday, didnt take the landy tho, i baught a DRZ 400 the day before so wanted to take that instead,

Had a great day, there was 10+ off roaders and 50+ crossers there, theres even a burger van lol

As said, dont go in through the golf course entrance.

From Sheffield i went south on the M1, came off at Junction28 then just followed the A617 then the (A614) You'll be able to tell where it is by the vast amount of spare land/forrest etc

Ill be down in the Landy next time

went to the Desert on Saturday, fantasic until cops took my car. No insurance, they said I was on a public place where the public have access so I need insurance and my solitor agreed. Been told I'm looking at 6 point a least. Saw them load two 4x4's and two bikes on the back of wagons. Copper said they have an opperation in place over the summer holidays.! :-]. Also said the golf course road is a road all the way through so you need insurance on it and on the pit road.

i would'nt mind coming to have a day out up there in my def 90 if anyone else from here is up for the trip i'm in the northwest we could arrange to meet up with the local lads let them show us round who's up for it ??

I said it before ages ago on this thread and ill say it again:

Although people go to the desert and *some* police turn a blind eye, if you DONT have insurance, they can impound your vehicle as you go in by any of the public roads, if you go in and are caught in the sandpit or ANY other areas still owned by RGB mining they CAN prosecute you for trespass and vandalism (tearing up there land) HOWEVER RGB dont seem that bothered about prosecutin many people, all i tell people is, we got in before the police got there a couple of years back, and all received letters the following monday stating we had been caught on private land and our reg numbers recorded incase we were seen there again. How did they catch us? The police chopper team photographed us.

The point im making is, its a ****ing stupid initative by notts police, because a few people ruin it for everyone, joyriders and uninsured bikers/drivers taint it for those that legally drive in there and act responsibly albeit on private land thats perfect for people to enjoy with off road vehicles If you feel like taking the risk, make sure your insured and be polite IF the police move you on. The more people that try and act like grown ups the better as it encourages the landowner and police to relax a little bit. I personally have no time for irresponsible people/parents that wreck it for the majority by letting themeselves/kids ride/drive stupidly.

well put if no one gos ****ing the golfers off then every one can play i do feel for some of them thay pay out shed loads of cash to play there just like we do on out landys and thay just wont a good day same as us its just the odd one that has to go tering up and down the road that makes it harder for the rest of us its not like the site is not big that you have to do it on the road
be nice and lets all play with out the police haveing to wast our taxes
any one wonting to go for the day the sat nav ll is in the thred or mail me
