Well that was weird !

Can anyone throw any light on this for me ? Ta.

This morning I got in Series3 station wagon (2.25 Diesel & 4 speed gearbox) to go get new seats with headrests and inertia seatbelts etc... except, when I put in gear and let the clutch out, nothing happened. I tried all gears and still nothing happened. The clutch has not given any signs of failing, nor has the gearbox really. All day I've been trying to work out what could be wrong.

I've now stripped out the seats, seat box and floors, in prep for removing gearbox, and I thought I'd just remind myself of the problem and started her up. This time, everything worked ok. All gears engaged and the clutch worked perfectly well !!!!????? I don't understand how this can be.

Has this happened before?

yer t/box lever was in 'n' and you knocked it back into 'd' when you took the seats out. just a guess but could be the reason

Phew !

That's a relief. I can carry on putting it back together now. Cool.
